Crew support during erection
Steel Erection Support
Erection crews set steel. Somebody has to weld it once it is plumb — connections, bracing, tie-ins and the field corrections that always come up when drawings meet an actual site.
We work alongside erection crews to keep the raise moving instead of stopping while everyone waits on a welder.
What the job includes
- Field welding of connections once members are set
- Plumbing and bracing support during the raise
- Tie-ins to existing structure
- Field corrections and fit-up adjustments
- Coordination with the erection crew's schedule
Where it gets used
- Commercial and light industrial steel erection
- Mezzanines and structural additions
- Canopy and shade structure raises
- Connections to existing buildings
Common questions
Do you work as a sub to the erector?
Yes. We regularly work alongside an erection crew, welding as members are set and plumbed.
Can you weld at height?
Yes, from lifts. Tell us the access situation when you call — it changes the equipment and the schedule.
Can you handle field corrections?
That is most of the work. Drawings and reality rarely match exactly, and cutting, shimming and rewelding to make the connection land is routine.
