Metal Deck & Kitchen Hood Supports — Lake City, FL

Commercial building, SW Florida Gateway DriveLake City, FL

Metal deck is the corrugated steel that forms the roof surface. It spans the trusses, and everything above it — insulation, membrane, rooftop units — carries its load down through that deck. We laid and fastened it across this building's roof structure in Lake City.

The kitchen hood was the other half of the job. A commercial exhaust hood hangs from threaded rods, and those rods cannot land on deck — they have to reach steel. We fabricated four 4" × 4" steel angle supports and welded them to the roof trusses, giving each rod a structural point to drop from, so the hood's weight reaches the frame of the building instead of the roof it happens to sit under.

Some of the cutting ran on after dark. Lake City is about three hours north of our base in Tampa Bay — we travel for commercial work.
